About us
Hi, thank you for taking the time to find out more about us.
We are a husband and wife team Sue and Dave Askew and ‘’Footseys’’ is a new departure from our day job as bespoke pelmet makers for interior designers and quality retail stores. (visit our website at theoriginalpelmetcompany.co.uk)
‘’Footseys’’ came about after I made a traditional foot stool as a (2008) Christmas present for Sue’s Mum using remnants from our pelmet making business. This gave me the idea of making foot stools as a useful and environmentally friendly way of using up our remnants of timber, foam, wadding, fabrics etc.
We made up a batch of twenty traditional foot stools, bench stools and table stools, and booked ‘’Sandringham Craft Fair’’ for Easter.
I then decided to make some more unusual style stools as an additional attraction to our stand.
I carried out some research on the web for inspiration, and discovered that although there were many variations on the traditional ranges of stools with contemporary fabrics, legs etc there appears to have been no rethink of the foot stool design apart from the occasional bizarre design which catered more for fun than functionality.
So I designed the ‘’Footseys’’ range of stools, which I hope brings this piece of occasional furniture into the 21st century. Based on the feedback we have received from clients and the general public we decided to launch ‘’Footseys’’ as a separate business with its own web site.
Designed to be multi functional as a table stool when together, additional seating or side tables apart and when turned on their sides very comfortable foot stool/leg rest, our range is ideal for using as statement furniture in a design scheme.
We are also committed to being environmentally friendly as possible with the manufacture of our stools.
Firstly our stools are built to last and can be recovered by any competent upholsterer should you wish to change the face cloth when you redecorate. Secondly we try to use as much recycled timber in the constuction of our stools as possible. Thirdly being made to order here in Lincolnshire they are not being shipped thousands of miles, or being stuffed full of chemicals to prevent them going mouldy, as much of the cheap furniture produced abroad is spending months or years sat in containers.
